Mapping of AIS beacons

Resolved

What is the appropriate way to add AIS information for beacons?

Beacons buoys

How seamark:type=beacon_safe_water differs from seamark:type=buoy_safe_water  ? https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:seamark:type%3Dbuoy_safe_water ? Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 14:13, 5 May 2022 (UTC)

Buoys floating, beacons fixed to the seabed, does this answer your question?

Safety beacons/Safe water beacons

Resolved

I've some issues with:

Type S100 code seamark:type Definition Example renderings Photo
Safe water beacon BCNINB beacon_safe_water A safe water beacon is a prominent specially constructed object forming a conspicuous mark as a fixed aid to navigation or for use in hydrographic surveys. Beacon Safe Water.png Rhinplate-N Safety Beacon.jpg

I mentioned "Safety beacons" as mentioned on https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/File:Rhinplate-N_Safety_Beacon.jpg. --Nospam2005 (talk) 21:03, 23 May 2022 (UTC)

Feel free to replace photo if current one is inferior/misleading! Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 00:11, 24 May 2022 (UTC)
I have Resolved the above by deleting File:Rhinplate-N Safety Beacon.jpg because that seamark is not a safe water mark indicating safe water. In fact it is marking the end of a dangerous bank!! --Jsavage (talk) 11:06, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
A navigator here. Rhinplatte Nord is not a safe water but a port-hand beacon: while there are navigational channels on both sides of the bank the preferred channel lies to the southwest of the beacon as indicated by the nearby buoy No. 78. This version is also verified by cylyndrical shape and solid red colour of the beacon. Chart for reference. Just for general knowledge a safe water mark usually indicates the centerline of a channel and not its edge. --VileGecko (talk) 11:54, 17 May 2023 (UTC)
@Mateusz Konieczny: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Safe_water_spar_buoy_without_topmark.jpg, in spite of the name of the file, it look more like a beacon. The spherical red top mark is missing, so i'm not sure its a good candidate for replacement. --Nospam2005 (talk) 19:19, 8 May 2023 (UTC)
@Nospam2005: Note its use on https://uk.wikipedia.org/wiki/Віха_(морський_термін) and https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prick - I am not confident enough to remove it there and rename on Commons Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 08:24, 9 May 2023 (UTC)
Thanks, I'm unsure too. Better not to change until somebody knowing the region confirms if it's a beacon or a buoy. --Nospam2005 (talk) 21:21, 9 May 2023 (UTC)
Pictured is definetely a spar buoy and not a beacon - here's a depiction of how such buoys look underwater. Also while spherical topmarks are recommended they are not compulsory, a safe water buoy without a topmark as an example. --VileGecko (talk) 11:54, 17 May 2023 (UTC)
