Talk:System Administrators
From OpenStreetMap Wiki
Hi, I wanted to ask a permissions' related question, and was instructed to approach the system administrators. However, I couldn't find in the sysadmins' wiki pages any way to email them. Could you send me (openstreetmap.comverse@9ox.net) the URL for sysadmins' email addresses ? Thanks, Ron (AKA ronbarak).
P.S.: my permissions' related question is: I want to add the capability to a site to give a location, and have all points of interest within a defined radius of the location highlighted. I want to create this as a django/python class. I wish to know if this is within openstreetmap license agreement/fair usage practice.
- Hi ronbarak. I can't see anything about your question which requires you to contact the system administrators. They're busy guys, so how about I just try to answer your question here. Other good places for asking questions include http://forum.openstreetmap.org and http://help.openstreetmap.org among other community Contact channels.
- In general the OpenStreetMap License is an open license and you're absolutely welcome to build things like this with the data. You need to give a small credit to OpenStreetMap on your website as detailed on the copyrights page. If you were planning to build this making API map requests, you'll also need to think about going easy on our servers. Some more detail on this at API usage policy Often working with planet.osm files/extracts will be a better approach.
