Verifiability

How can such a bathing place without signage or facilities be verified? At least in middle and southern Europe most riverbanks, lakesides or coasts would have to be tagged leisure=bathing_place. --SelfishSeahorse (talk) 13:39, 14 April 2019 (UTC)

Some ideas:
  • access to and into the water
  • no sign (or local/general rule) saying it is forbidden to bath there
  • known usage
  • no visible/known hazards
I think local conditions are very different in places around the world and in some places that I know in central Europe just a small fraction of lakes/ponds and riverbanks are suitable or legally allowed for swimming. In some regions it would be a waste of time to tag this, in others highly welcome. RicoZ (talk) 22:00, 13 November 2019 (UTC)
If you are trying to verify that an existing mapping is correct then... you go there when the weather is appropriate for swimming and when people usually got time (e.g., afternoons on weekends) and just watch. :) That's a bit tongue in cheek and being able to actually verify correctness is important but some things that are worth tagging are not easily verifiable or instantly recognizable. Of course not every tiny place where you see someone in the water once should be mapped like that and some common sense has to be applied but I think this is actually quite well verifiable at least with local knowledge in practice. --Stefanct (talk) 13:08, 4 July 2021 (UTC)
