plant:method=photovoltaic vs generator:method=photovoltaic

I need some hints about the difference between plant:method=photovoltaic and generator:method=photovoltaic. When to use one and the other? -- Kogutowicz Manó (talk) 08:35, 27 July 2021 (UTC)

They are effectively doing the same thing, but one for power=generator and the other for power=plant. In practice we perhaps could have used a single tag along the lines of power:method, but this was not what was designed for detailed power tagging. For power plants with multiple source of energy (e.g., heat & water schemes with associated wind & solar generation the plant:method may not be appropriate. In the main people tag the generator, but for solar farms we've mapped groups of solar arrays using generator & the entire area as plants and modified the tags appropriately. Similar aspects apply to a number of other tags: *:output:*, *:source etc. HTH SK53 (talk) 12:32, 27 July 2021 (UTC)

tag status

Does anyone know an approval discussion of this tag? It wasn't part of the proposal Power generation refinement. If there is none, status should be "de facto" instead of "approved". @Geozeisig: Do you know an approval? --Chris2map (talk) 06:56, 12 February 2024 (UTC)
