I think that this tag isn't equivalent to the shop=trade with trade=*, because shop=building_materials may sell to end-users also, not only to building professionals or retailers. -- Something B (talk) 06:53, 29 May 2023 (UTC)

I agree with you. But descriptions on shop=trade and trade=building_supplies tell a different concept and are therefore misleading. I think we have to be able to distinguish between resellers to professionals and retailers to consumers / end-users. At least in Germany, many traders (resellers) of building-supplies don't normally sell to end-users, AFAIK. --Chris2map (talk) 07:39, 29 May 2023 (UTC)
