Old planning discussions (2006!)

I've set up this page basing it on one of the other county pages, hopefully it will kickstart others into doing something similar. If anyone is active in Hertfordshire please update your town, but over the next few weeks I'll check out each town in JOSM and gauge what the progress is in each area.

Also, if anyone in interested in setting up a little mapping event in Hertfordshire? A small team could cover towns like Letchworth and Hitchin in an afternoon I think

I could be up for doing Hitchin, Letchworth etc. Looks like they have some traces, but not much annotated. Steevc 12:31, 21 September 2006 (BST)
Sounds good. I'm moving from Reading to St Albans this Saturday, so I'll be looking to spend the coming year doing a good deal of that area :) TomChance 13:25, 21 September 2006 (BST)
I'm uploading some traces from driving around Letchworth just to get it blocked out, but I won't do much segment or way editing until I've done Baldock. I'm also taking a variety of routes on journeys between Baldock and Stevenage to map out some of the country lanes. Lordelph 14:38, 21 September 2006 (BST)

Thanks for the "talk" Lordelph, and the directions to here. Yes, I was at the Herts-LUG meeting as was fellow member steevc. I've now tracked the whole of Weston and linked it to Baldock. Slightly frustrated by apparent collapse of uploads to server? Next job is to mark the paths, ways and tags. (i.e. to learn how to do it.) Is there a "definitive" bit of map which is fully tagged, so that I can see what is considered good practice (Are Post boxes, Spped limit signs, Churches and Pubs a good thing?) What else? Tonyf

I was a talk spectator (my first HertsLUG meeting too!). As the project isn't just maps but open geodata, I'd say add anything you fancy! Looks like there might be enough of us in the North Herts area to have some kind of mini-mapping event to blitz, say, Letchworth one weekend? Lordelph 19:07, 26 September 2006 (BST)

That's an old discussion. There's also an old page about the HertsLUG presentation 2006 event. 6 years later someone should go give HertsLUG an update! -- Harry Wood 19:14, 5 April 2012 (BST)

Disconnected ways by Osmeditor2

Working on some of the major routes in and around Stevenage I have noted that alot of ways that are tagged as having been created using Osmeditor2 are disconnected. That is to say rather than sharing a junction node with other ways, they end short or the nodes are placed on top of one another as in the Editing Conventions Junctions example. -- Batchoy 20:44, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
