Purpose?

Ok, what's the purpose of this template? Do we really want to make our competitors more visible? And what does a page about collaboration with Wikipedia have to do with all of that? --Tordanik 22:19, 1 December 2014 (UTC)

Purpose of Navbox template is to show cross links in more sensible way.
No, we shouldn't. We do not tell them about real differences between services. It's better to repeat how awesome OSM is without real comparison. Because if people use other services and if we tell them OSM 10 times, they will switch to OSM immediately.
Well intention was to show that OSM actually collaborates with scientific world and wikipedia. Not every competitor do that. Users should see the difference. Xxzme (talk) 16:10, 4 December 2014 (UTC)
This navigation bar tells people of the existence of competitors like Map Maker regardless whether they already know about them or use them. So your sarcastic statement has zero to do with what I said. But more to the point, most of the linked pages have nothing to do with "mapping projects" nor "comparison". It's just a random collection of stuff. --Tordanik 12:51, 5 May 2015 (UTC)
