Two distinct uses

@Mateusz Konieczny: Based on Special:Diff/2227705, do you think we should split this template into two distinct templates, one for the generic table cell usage and the other for the license tag usage (analogous to c:Template:No license since, which used to be located at c:Template:Unknown license)? It seems useful to have a table cell formatter similar to {{Yes}} and {{No}}. – Minh Nguyễn 💬 20:05, 9 December 2021 (UTC)

It seems to me that desired formatting/handling of "unknown" would depend on a page, but I would not be strongly opposed to such change. My planned bot can be easily configured to use some other template, so if someone wants to rename this template they are free to do this. Just take care to change also what is added in upload process and mentions in documentation Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 21:45, 9 December 2021 (UTC)
@Mateusz Konieczny: I imported {{Dunno}} from the English Wikipedia for the table cell usage, so {{Unknown}} can be used just as a license tag. However, the name is still ambiguous, so I'd suggest renaming it to {{Unknown license}} or {{No license}}. The list of license options in Special:Upload can be modified by an administrator to match the new template name. – Minh Nguyễn 💬 06:03, 11 December 2021 (UTC)
I created Template:No licence for the use outside of tables a. k. a. licensing. I also shortened and reformulated the text a bit to make it easier to read. --Tigerfell This user is member of the wiki team of OSM (Let's talk) 10:37, 26 May 2022 (UTC)
Is it supposed to be used instead of {{Unknown}}, both to be used on file pages or is it a draft to replace it? I do not understand "for the use outside of tables a. k. a. licensing" part at all Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 14:00, 26 May 2022 (UTC)
Yes, it is supposed to be used instead of {{Unknown}} for file licences. I do not plan to replace the existing use of {{Unknown}} but I plan to change this template so it calls Template:No licence.
This template actually contains to templates. On file pages it produces something similar to Template:No licence and when used inside tables it does the following.
Template "Unknown" inside a table
Some very long header text
Unknown
