OSM tube map

Follow the above link to see a slippy rendering of the data in the OSM database planet (check the date for the last update, at the bottom of that page). This was kindly provided by Steve8.

Rendering

All railways with railway=subway have a 1 pixel line to represent them. Only zoom levels 11-14 are available. Additionally they are coloured by the standard tube line colours, and have solid colour for overground sections (tunnel=no) and dashed casings for underground sections (tunnel=yes). The server may well be slow.

Correcting the data

If you know/use sections of the system please use it to check:

If you find an error please add it to the appropriate column in the table, and then try to resolve it - putting a date in the last column when correct.

If you use Yahoo! Aerial Imagery, it's usually quite easy to see and check the tagging of bridges while you're at it.

Correction list

Line Errors to correct Sign-up for correcting it Date corrected
Bakerloo Small tunnel section between Harlesdon and Willesdon Junc not named. No station for N Wembley steve8 Corrected. steve8 12-12-08
Central The line is above ground at Leyton and doesn't enter a tunnel until it reaches Drapers Field. Ed Avis Corrected. Ed Avis, March 2008
Circle Faringdon-Barbican-Moorgate section tagged as tube= rather than name= steve8 Corrected. steve8 12-12-08
District Wimbledon branch fully tagged now. --Edgemaster 17:41, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
East London
Hammersmith and City Faringdon-Barbican-Moorgate section tagged as tube= rather than name= steve8 Corrected. steve8 12-12-08
Jubilee Dollis hill->Willsden Green. Is the naming muddled with met line there?, and at Kilburn too. Seems like rendering quirk actually. Can't see any wrong tags
Metropolitan West of Neasden, until near West Harrow (here) there is a section tagged name=Chiltern Line and Metropolitan Line, and railway=rail. Hence the purple line stops for a while. Do the services actually merge onto exactly the same track? Anyone know? If not, probably better to draw them as two separate ways.

Faringdon one corrected. steve8 12-12-08

West of Neasen to Harrow-on-the-Hill, Chiltern Line has own rail, corrected this section. Multiple Rails north west of Harrow-on-the-Hill, unsure. Firefishy 02:06, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

Northern
Picadilly
Victoria
Waterloo and City
Docklands Light Railway No station for Gallions Reach Harry Wood added that from Gagravarr's GPS reading 14:00, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
North London Line Some tagged as subway, some tagged as railway
Central Line White City Track divides and runs wrong line (mostly in the open) through this complex and open stations.
Various Stations (eg. Green Park) In several places somebody has forced the lines to cross under the same node rather than using the proper subway entrance tag... given the distance one needs to walk quite a distance, it should be clear that the "stations" on each line are not in the same place. At some places (Angel), the station is about right, but the entrance is quite a bit to the north.
Various Track sharing Needs to find some clean representation
Heathrow Terminal 5 Perhaps it needs a re-render...

Small note on licenses - PD tube station list

The "London Tube Stations" page lists tube stations coordinates. These should also be in the OSM database. Note that the coordinates on that page were originally released to the public domain (see older version of the page), but the above linked map is rendered from the OSM database which includes other work, and possibly corrections to station positions based on Yahoo! Aerial Imagery. Therefore data in the OSM database, and the above linked map, are released with the OpenStreetMap License.
