University of Georgia
The University of Georgia has had previous engagement with OSM through faculty and students primarily in the Department of Geography. A mapathon is typically hosted every year in which Missing Maps or HotOSM is utilized to accomplish specific mapping goals.
The mapathon is typically organized within the GIS day (during the year 2020 due to Coronavirus it will take place over several days) planned by various faculty and students at the Department of Geography. The undergraduate student organization for geography, GUSTO (facebook page here), has also had a role in helping plan mapathons.
To date, there is not a very active OSM mapping community at UGA or in the city, Athens, Georgia
