hi Pnorman, at 07:43, 29. Okt. 2013‎ on boundary_protected_area-disc. > "...they're incompatible with OSM and people have mistakenly imported from them in the past." sorry - a time ago, but: what do you mean therewith? That user insert "IV" insted of "4"? On my view, the link to pp is important and usefull. --Typoshrub (talk) 11:27, 26 April 2016 (UTC)

We can't use WDPA to map in OSM. We aren't allowed to import it, but people have. Pnorman (talk) 15:20, 26 April 2016 (UTC)

hi, Thank you - I didn't think about that copyright.
Isn't it as queer to hide an internetlink as hide to tagg a private highway?
Whether setting an extra link to the Terms <http://www.protectedplanet.net/terms>, with giving an appeal to don't download the data, just use them for information? That seems to me more wise.
But anyway - if OSM wants, we skip the link from the resources-list (but I remember it on other places).
Best, --Typoshrub (talk) 21:36, 26 April 2016 (UTC)

We can't use them for information and the link was confusing them. Pnorman (talk) 22:02, 26 April 2016 (UTC)

Hi Pnorman, on [1] you've entered that New Westminster has no open data, but I see they now offer a variety of open data [2] under the Open Government Licence - City of New Westminster. Since OSM is allowed to use OGL-Canada and OGL-BC data, I would assume this data is compliant with the ODbL as well? --Alarobric (talk) 21:25, 26 May 2016 (UTC)

We'd need to get permission. OGL-Canada and OGL-BC 1.0 are okay since we have explicit permission Pnorman (talk) 01:28, 2 June 2016 (UTC)

Missing file information

Hello! And thanks for your upload - but some extra info is necessary.

Sorry for bothering you about this, but it is important to know source of the uploaded files.

Are you the author of image File:Bilinear.png ?

Or is it copied from some other place (which one?)?

Please, add this info to the file page - something like "I took this photo" or "downloaded from -website link-" or "I took this screeshot of program XYZ".

In case that you are the author of the image: Would you agree to open licensing of this image, allowing its use by anyone (similarly to your OSM edits)?

note: if you took screenshot of program made by someone else, screenshot of OSM editor with aerial imagery: then licensing of that elements also matter and you are not a sole author.

note: If you downloaded image made by someone else then you are NOT the author.

Would you be OK with CC0 (it allows use without attribution or any other requirement)?

Or do you prefer to require attribution and some other things using CC-BY-SA-4.0?

If you are the author: Please add {{CC0-self}} to the file page to publish the image under CC0 license.

You can also use {{CC-BY-SA-4.0-self}} to publish under CC-BY-SA-4.0 license.

Note that in cases where photo is a screenshot of some software interface: usually it is needed to handle also copyright of software itself.

Note that in cases where aerial imagery is present: also licensing of an aerial imagery matter.

Feel free to ask for help if you need it - you can do it for example by asking on Talk:Wiki: new topic.

Please ask there if you are not sure what is the proper next step. Especially when you are uploading files that are not your own work or are derivative work (screenshots, composition of images, using aerial imagery etc).

Once you add missing data - please remove {{Unknown|subcategory=uploader notified January 2022}} from the file page.

If you are interested in wider discussion about handling licencing at OSM Wiki, see this thread.
