WikiProject United Kingdom National Cycle Network/Local Routes
From OpenStreetMap Wiki
Many cities and counties have their own local routes. These generally interface with the National Cycle Network but are not part of it.
They vary from city commuter routes (often numbered) to circular rural touring routes (generally named rather than numbered).
It seems likely that, as most regional routes are moved into the national scheme, some will be 'downgraded' to local routes - the circular routes in North Wales, for example.
