From OpenStreetMap Wiki
This is a page to discuss a Great Britain chapter of the OpenStreetMap Foundation (see Foundation/Local Chapters) . We don't have anything set up yet, but we have a few mappers in Great Britain.

So we can discuss what(and who) we're going to set up we should get together for a preliminary chit-chat. This could be after doing some mapping in an unloved place.
There was some discussion of an event in June 2010, but it didn't happen.

Why have a GB chapter?
- OSM and OSMF started and is based in the UK but has lots of international stuff to worry about.
- Coordinate engagement with UK specific organisations such as Ordnance Survey and UK local councils
- Provide UK specific services and perhaps server resources for encouraging UK OpenStreetMap data use, contribution, and project growth.
- Perhaps provide a separate funding channel for said services.
GB? England? UK?
The administrative region covered by the chapter need not be Great Britain. Other ideas were discussed at Foundation/Local Chapters/Proposed Chapters#England (central)
