About

Proposal to import Nicaragua's admin boundaries data by the URACCAN to OpenStreetMap. This includes "departamentos" and municipalities.

Import Plan Outline

...

Goals

  • To enhance the current OSM administrative division coverage of Nicaragua.
  • Import political and administrative boundaries of Mexico (municipal level)

Import Data

The data to be imported comes from the of the Autonomous Regions of the Nicaraguan Caribbean Coast (URACCAN) provided with a special permission.

Background

One of the current problems in OpenStreetMap about Nicaragua’s data is the incompleteness of the administrative boundaries for municipalities. Municipalities are the second-level administrative division in Nicargua, the first being the "deparamentos". There are 153 municipalities in Nicargua.

To fit the data for the municipalities, the departamentos have to be reviewed and probably adapted.
