This is a tag to link OpenStreetMap features with features in a General Bikeshare Feed Specification (GBFS) dataset.
Please check the license of the GBFS dataset before using it in OpenStreetMap, you should be able to find license details in the system_information API.
How to tag
This tag should be used in combination of amenity=bicycle_rental or amenity=kick-scooter_rental for the physical object.
The value of this tag should be a combination of the system id and station id, joined by a colon, <system_id>:<station_id>.
e.g. ref:gbfs=beryl_isle_of_wight:2593 for the station "Debourne Close" in Beryl Isle of Wight GBFS
Use Case
This tag can be used to link a OSM rental locations to official data by the rental company. This is important to prevent duplications as public transit providers overlay GBFS data on top of OpenStreetMap data.
