A logo is an essential part of any event as it represents the spirit and mood of that year's global conference. Therefore, we need the assistance of creative minds within the community to design a new logo for SotM 2024.

Additionally, the logo is a crucial element in defining the design and color scheme of the official website, as well as the style of the conference content on all OSM platforms. It will also be used in the production of SotM merchandise and swag, such as t-shirts and stickers, creating unforgettable memories from the conference.

We welcome all participants, ranging from experienced professionals to graphic design enthusiasts and newbies, to share their innovative ideas with the community.

Contest guidelines

The following are guidelines for the logo design contest:

  • The artwork must be original.
  • The logo should reference both OpenStreetMap (OSM) and State of the Map (SotM).
  • It should focus on the global community and its core values.
  • The logo should be easily recognizable.
  • The license should be open: CC BY SA or related.
  • The submission deadline is Sunday, October 1st, 2023 at 23:59 UTC.

The design may:

  • Be color-negated so that black is white, white is black, etc.
  • Be submitted in different sizes (for example, the primary logo and a variant for small print media such as badges). It is also acceptable to include print mockups along with the primary logo
