Proposal

Many RV'ers (and boaters) need to know where to dump their greywater and blackwater. This tag is intended to help them find those facilities, whether public or private (also recommend additional tags to indicate access=public|private). RobertWyatt 15:53, 11 June 2007 (CST)

Discussion

  • It this a duplicate of waterway=waste_disposal, that is already a feature, or is it something different? Ulfl 18:04, 7 July 2007 (BST)
    • This is a non-water-specific version of that tag. The suggested icon is the land-based signage. --Cohort 22:37, 23 August 2007 (BST)
  • waterway=waste_disposal is vaguely defined; it could be either greywater/blackwater (I think I can guess what those are, although I've never heard those terms used in the UK) or it could be rubbish/refuse. We need to clearly define which one it is, and have an amenity tag for the other one. This might be it, although I've never heard the phrase "dump station" used in the UK either. Is it an Americanism? Gerv 15:00, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
  • Optional indications if it is free of charge and the opening times would be nice. I'm sure other tags have opening times and fees, so whatever is usualy used would work here too I guess. --Ckruetze 14:52, 6 September 2008 (UTC)
    • I am totally in favour of an opening times and fees tag for use accross OpenStreetMap. Is there anything out there at the moment? Can a discussion page for this be opened? --http://chris-researchblog.blogspot.com/ 11:08, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
  • There is allready a amenity=recycling + recycling:excrement=yes tag Marine Mapping --!i! 08:25, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
  • Any non RV specific tag is not satisfactory for this amenity. I was on the road with an RV - this is a must have for everyone who does not frequently stay at campsites. It is also not convinient to look up all the adresses from different websites.
