Summary

Places to go dancing. In Finland there is lots of wooden dance halls on the country side (called Tanssilava). Usually in dance halls there is live music and dance types vary (waltz, tango, jive etc). These places are meant just for dancing and they are not nightclubs or restaurants although there is usually serving of beverages.

Reasoning

As there is other places tagged to go to spend the evening/night, I think also dancing halls should be tagged too. One use case I can think of is that a couple who is looking for a place to go dancing searches all the dance halls nearby. So this is just a one more type of leisure activity. There is no appropriate tag for this yet. Dance halls are not restaurants, they are no pubs and they are not nightclubs. Also, I don't think that it would be tagged as sports, it's more a leisure-activity.

Examples

In Finland, there is roughly 600 dance halls or places to go dancing. More about them (in finnish) from [1]

Tagging

leisure=dance. Applies to nodes and areas.

I think this goes under leisure although nightclubs and restaurants are tagged under amenities. I don't think this is sports but maybe sport=dance could be applicable to a sports_center that is dedicated to dance contests and professional dance training.

Other useful tags:
