The Seven Seas Lagoon is a man-made lake that is connected to Bay Lake. Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) created the lake to help drain the swampland of land that would eventual form Magic Kingdom. All this was done as a part of the canal building and lake formations as apart of the Reddy Creak Improvement District Plan that helped to create Walt Disney World Resort.

Magic Kingdom, Disney's Contemporary Resort, Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney's Wedding Pavilion, and Ticket and Transportation Center sit around the shores of Seven Seas Lagoon
