This page defines values for the "seamark:<object>:<attribute>" tags that require one or more enumeration values and may be applied to any suitable object.

Where the attribute applies to all objects at a single location, the tag key should have the form: "seamark:<attribute>"

Bunker vessel availability (bunves)

Indication of the availability of a bunker vessel.

Condition (CONDTN)

The various conditions of buildings and other constructions.

Conspicuous, radar (CONRAD)

Relating to a feature's ability to be detected by radar.

Radar conspicuous conspicuous An object which returns a strong radar echo.
Not radar conspicuous not_conspicuous An object which does not return a particularly strong radar echo.
Radar conspicuous (has radar reflector) reflector An object which returns a strong radar echo, having a radar reflector.

Conspicuous, visually (CONVIS)

Relating to a feature's ability to be clearly seen and identified.

Visually conspicuous conspicuous An object, either natural or artificial, which is distinctly and notably visible from seaward.
Not visually conspicuous not_conspicuous An object which is visible from seaward, but is not conspicuous.

Nature of surface (NATSUR)

The general material which the land surface or the sea bed is composed

Mud mud Soft, wet earth.
Clay clay Stiff, sticky earth that becomes hard when baked (particles of less than 0.002mm).
Silt silt When dried on hand will rub off easily (particles of 0.002-0.0625mm).
Sand sand Tiny grains of crushed or worn rock (particles of 0.0625-2.0mm).
Stones stones Rock fragments ranging in size from pebbles and gravel to boulders or a large rock mass.
Gravel gravel Small stones with coarse sand (particles of 2.0-4.0mm).
Pebbles pebbles Small stones made smooth and round by being rolled in water (particles of 4.0-64.0mm).
Cobbles cobbles Stones worn round and smooth by water and used for paving (particles of 64.0-256.0mm).
Rocky rocky Any formation of natural origin that constitutes an integral part of the lithosphere. The natural occurring material that forms firm, hard, and solid masses.
Lava lava The fluid or semi-fluid matter flowing from a volcano. The substance that results from the cooling of the molten rock.
Coral coral Hard calcareous skeletons of many tribes of marine polyps.
Shells shells Exoskeletons of various water dwelling animals.
Boulder boulders A rounded rock with diameter of 256 mm or larger.

Nature of surface qualifying term (NATQUA)

The nature of various forms of natural surface materials in terms of their size, morphology and consistency.

Fine fine Falls within the smallest size continuum for a particular nature of surface term.
Medium medium Falls within the moderate size continuum for a particular nature of surface term.
Coarse coarse Falls within the largest size continuum for a particular nature of surface term.
Broken broken Fractured or in pieces.
Sticky sticky Having an adhesive or glue like property.
Soft soft Not hard or firm.
Stiff stiff Not pliant - thick, resistant to flow.
Volcanic volcanic Composed of or containing material ejected from a volcano.
Calcareous calcareous Composed of or containing calcium or calcium carbonate.
Hard hard Firm usually refers to an area of the sea floor not covered by unconsolidated sediment.

Product (PRODCT)

The various substances which are transported, stored or exploited.

Oil oil A thick, slippery liquid that will not dissolve in water, usually petroleum based in the context of storage tanks.
Gas gas A substance with particles that can move freely, usually a fuel substance in the context of storage tanks.
Water water A colourless, odourless, tasteless liquid that is a compound of hydrogen and oxygen.
Stone stone A general term for rock fragments.
Coal coal A hard black mineral that is burned as fuel.
Ore ore A solid rock or mineral from which metal is obtained.
Chemicals chemicals Any substance obtained by or used in a chemical process.
Drinking water drinking_water Water that is suitable for human consumption.
Milk milk A white fluid secreted by female mammals as food for their young.
Bauxite bauxite A mineral from which aluminum is obtained.
Coke coke A solid substance obtained after gas and tar have been extracted from coal, used as a fuel.
Iron ingots iron_ingots An oblong lump of cast iron metal.
Salt salt Sodium chloride obtained from mines or by the evaporation of sea water.
Sand sand Tiny grains of crushed or worn rock.
Timber timber Wood prepared for use in building or carpentry.
Sawdust/wood chips sawdust Powdery fragments of wood made in sawing timber or coarse chips produced for use in manufacturing pressed board.

The condition of an object at a given instant in time.

Historic historic Famous in history; of historical interest.
Public public Belonging to, available to, used or shared by, the community as a whole and not restricted to private use.
Synchronized synchronised Occur at a time, coincide in point of time, be contemporary or simultaneous.
Watched watched Looked at or observed over a period of time especially so as to be aware of any movement or change.
Un-watched unwatched Usually automatic in operation, without any permanently-stationed personnel to superintend it.
Existence doubtful existence_doubtful An object that has been reported but has not been definitely determined to exist.
On request on_request When it is asked for.
Drop away drop_away To become lower in level.
Rising rising To become higher in level.
Increasing increasing A rise in amount, number or degree.
Decreasing decreasing To go down to a lower level
Strong strong Not easily broken or destroyed
Good good In a satisfactory condition to use.
Moderately moderately Fairly but not very.

Traffic Flow (TRAFIC)

The direction of traffic flow.

Vertical datum (VERDAT)

Datum to which both heights and soundings are referred.

Lowest astronomical tide lat The lowest tide level which can be predicted to occur under average meteorological conditions and under any combination of astronomical conditions. This is the datum used in electronic charts (ECDIS) since 2005.
Mean sea level msl The average height of the surface of the sea at a tide station for all stages of the tide over a 19-year period, usually determined from hourly height readings measured from a fixed predetermined reference level. This is the datum used e.g. on german charts of the Baltic Sea.
Mean low water springs mlws The average height of the low waters of spring tides.
Mean lower low water springs mllws The average height of lower low water springs at a place.
Lowest low water llw An arbitrary level conforming to the lowest tide observed at a place, or somewhat lower.
Mean low water mlw The average height of all low waters at a place over a 19-year period.
Lowest low water springs llws An arbitrary level conforming to the lowest water level observed at a place at spring tides during a period of time shorter than 19 years.
Approximate mean low water springs amlws An arbitrary level, usually within 0.3m from that of mean low water springs.
Indian spring low water islw An arbitrary tidal datum approximating the level of the mean of the lower low water at spring tides.
Low water springs lws An arbitrary level, approximating that of mean low water springs.
Approximate lowest astronomical tide alat An arbitrary level, usually within 0.3m from that of lowest astronomical tide.
Nearly lowest low water nllw An arbitrary level approximating the lowest water level observed at a place, usually equivalent to the Indian spring low water.
Mean lower low water mllw The average height of the lower low waters at a place over a 19-year period.
Low water lw An approximation of mean low water adopted as the reference level for a limited area, irrespective of better determinations at a later date.
Approximate mean low water amlw An arbitrary level, usually within ' 0.3m from that of mean low water.
Approximate mean lower low water amllw An arbitrary level, usually within ' 0.3m from that of mean lower low water.
Mean high water mhw The average height of all high waters at a place over a 19-year period.
Mean high water springs mhws The average height of the high waters of spring tides.
High water hw The highest level reached at a place by the water surface in one tidal cycle.

Mean water level mwl The average of all hourly water levels over the available period of record.
Lower low water large tide llwlt The average of the lowest low waters, one from each of 19 years of observations.
Higher high water large tide hhwlt The average of the highest high waters, one from each of 19 years of observations.
Nearly highest high water. nhhw An arbitrary level approximating the highest water level observed at a place, usually equivalent to the high water springs.
Highest astronomical tide. hat The highest tidal level which can be predicted to occur under average meteorological conditions and under any combination of astronomical conditions.

Reference low water level according to Danube Commission. rlwl_donau The water level at a discharge, which is exceeded 94% of the year within a period of 30 years.

Dutch river low water reference level (OLR). drlwrl_olr The water level at a discharge, which is exceeded 95% of the year within a period of 20 years.

Water level effect (WATLEV)

The effect of the surrounding water on an object.

Partly submerged at high water part-submerged Partially covered and partially dry at high water.
Always dry dry Not covered at high water under average meteorological conditions.
Always under water/submerged submerged Remains covered by water at all times under average meteorological conditions.
Covers and uncovers covers An area of a reef or other projection from the bottom of a body of water which periodically extends above and is submerged below the surface. Also referred to as 'dries or uncovers'.
Awash awash Flush with, or washed by the waves at low water under average meteorological conditions.
Subject to inundation or flooding floods An area periodically covered by flood water, excluding tidal waters.
Floating floating Resting or moving on the surface of the water without sinking
Above mean water level above_mwl Above a water level called "mean water" which is the arithmetic mean value of all water levels within a certain period of time
Below mean water level below_mwl Below a water level called "mean water" which is the arithmetic mean value of all water levels within a certain period of time
