Talk page guidelines

If you have things that you would like the API to do or problems with editors, use the mailing lists. This page is for discussion of the article itself, not the subject of the article. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Talk_page_guidelines. SixSix 16:28, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

Erm, that's Wikipedia - we're OpenStreetMap. (Though I agree that yes, in general the project direction should be discussed on the lists.) --Richard 16:46, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

Names of bounding box parameters

I changed the names of the bounding box parameters (for the MAP request) from bllon, bllat, trlon, and trlat to left, bottom, right, and top, respectively. Referencing the parameters to the bottom-left and top-right corners is a logical fallacy: for example, the top-left longitude is the same as the bottom-left longitude, but by naming the parameter bllon, it is implied that bllon != tllon (which, of course, is not the case). By using the names of the sides, this fallacy is avoided. SixSix 16:16, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

Meaning of attributes

I can't find any explanation of what, say, the visible=yes attribute means. Would this belong on this page? Robx 15:12, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Preferences Support in Editors

Merkaartor got support for storing preferences (Bookmarks and WMS/TMS servers initially) in the API in December 2008 (version pre-0.13): http://trac.openstreetmap.org/changeset/12158. (Thanks go to Chris Browet).--Colin Marquardt 16:55, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
