How to use in the editors: Update JOSM part

It seems that Bing is not longer there by default. You have to add it manually. Tuxayo (talk) 21:32, 19 November 2017 (UTC)

No?? Bing is available by default in every country i've gone...--ADepic (talk) 09:56, 3 August 2018 (UTC)

Will the bing images ever be updated?

Will the bing images ever be updated or did we receive a one time donation without updates? --ALE! (talk) 23:40, 18 November 2017 (UTC)

They are continuously updated, depending on the area and zoomlevel. --Dieterdreist (talk) 00:42, 19 November 2017 (UTC)

When will Bing Streetside be added to JOSM

Bing Streetside could have so much insane potential when it comes to mapping for osm. When will there be a bing streetside addon to JOSM?

When someone will implement it and add it Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 14:05, 23 December 2021 (UTC)
Done since 2018??

Proposal to rework the header paragraph for Bing Aerial Imagery section

Currently the wiki reads,

Please note the only legal use of Bing maps is to use the aerial imagery layer as background to do your own OSM drawing (also known as "tracing"). It is not legal to use any other information from Bing maps (like street names etc., for street view feature, see below). "

Is it correct to say that there are two legal uses: 1) aerial imagery + 2) streetside, if used from within editors as written up lower down the page?

In which case, I think the header paragraph could be changed to reflect that more clearly. And to Joel D Reid's point on help.openstreetmap.org, I think it would be helpful for licensing novices to explicitly refer to the different sources of Bing imagery, and state that Bird's Eye and other imagery sourced from outwith the editors is disallowed.

I would normally just get on and do, but licensing is sensitive enough that a sense-check from others would be useful.

@Eteb3: this makes sense. One may argue that streetside is not part of map so technically it is true and not wrong, but making it less confusing would be nice Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 13:03, 23 December 2021 (UTC)
