Moving to Installing Java

I think that it is better moving this article to "Installing Java" or "Java Runtime Environment" and making the contents just for installing Java, not only for Josm, because many softwares in OSM depend on Java. For example,

etc. depend on Java. (You can search most of them from Category:Java.) In order to avoid the same instructions for installing Java on them, making a special page just written about Java and linking to the page from them look better. Do you have any rejections? If there are no rejections, I would like to do so. --Nazotoko 02:10, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

DONE (Looks like Nazotoko went ahead and did that 19:04, 25 May 2009. Seems sensible to me) -- --Harry Wood 21:02, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

Instructions were moved to more specific page

Old and outdated instructions can be found here. New page is here: Java Runtime Environment/How to install. Xxzme (talk) 04:47, 26 January 2015 (UTC)

... not anymore. --Aseerel4c26 (talk) 19:08, 8 December 2016 (UTC)

OpenJDK

Given Oracle's direction of travel, I'd suggest that https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Java_Runtime_Environment#How_to_install ought to suggest that rather than "Oracle Java". https://stackoverflow.com/questions/52511778/how-to-install-openjdk-11-on-windows is one example. When I last did it (a month or so ago) there was no "installer" as such, which might make it more challenging for less technical users.

I mention this here rather than just diving in and changing the page because there might be good reasons that I don't know about why the page should stay as it is. SomeoneElse (talk) 15:13, 26 November 2018 (UTC)
