Weir and Subtags
These structures are at least similar to weirs, and we call beam dams just "Wehr" (weir) in German. Almost all check and beam dams are currently mapped as waterway=weir. Adding new waterway=* tags for check and beam dams would break consistency with existing data. Therefore, I suggest subtags like weir=check_dam and weir=beam_dam instead. We will need to have a look at wikipedia:Weir#Types to consider other values as well. --Fkv (talk) 20:49, 23 March 2015 (UTC)
