role for road members

In the paragraph on TNC:Road it says:

Way or Node Role Recurrence? Discussion
relation TMC:Segment many the ordered(API0.6) list of ways making up each segment in the order of these segments.

Imho it is not a good idea to give the role as TMC:Segment. For one, the role is needed to specify forward / backward / both in the route=road relation. Additionally the member is not a Segment, but a way which is itself part of a Segment. --Bk 08:48, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

Notice the first column where it specified that this applies to member-relations, not to member-ways? route=road does not evaluate members that are relations and certainly not ones with type=TMCSegment. Thus this is no conflict. --MarcusWolschon 09:41, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
Well the column header is "Way or Node". Then in the description it says "list of ways", which could either mean each member is a list of ways (Segment) or the relation contains a list of ways, so each member is a way. Note: Most roads I have tagged so far do not have any segments associated. In this case I used the latter interpretation. (I.e. a regular route=road relation with additional TMC tags.) --Bk 10:50, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
Where are you reading this? http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:route%3Droad (route=road) only defines members being ways and 2 nodes marked "unused". That .ised a clear definition of how the (btw ordered) list of ways making up a route is to be stored and interpreted. That column-header is standard copy&paste.--MarcusWolschon 05:32, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, if I wasn't clear enough. From what I understand in the wiki, if you like to tag the road (e.g. LC way 47056), you have to create a new route=road relation, tag it and add the segments as members. However this road does not have any segments: http://osm-tmc.anders-hamburg.de/road.php?lcd=47056.
So now the best I could do, is to create a regular route relation (add the ways that make up this road) and just apply the TMC tags.
To be frank, it is currently quite hard to get started on TMC tagging because the documentation is abstract, scattered and sometimes confusing. I am hereby trying to improve that. --Bk 10:24, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
