Why?

Who invented this tag and why? The approved tag for this is amenity=animal_shelter + animal=insect. --Fkv (talk) 16:56, 14 December 2020 (UTC)

1. As suggested from man_made=*, this looks to be for the individual shelter structures, cf mentioned man_made=beehive.
2. The site is more of a landuse=apiary to invite wild insects for more pollination, not take them in intentionally for healing and recovery. The "hotel" term is unrelated to amenity=animal_shelter or amenity=animal_boarding.

I don't know in part what you are talking about, but your reference to healing/recovery convinces me. I overlooked that the amenity=animal_shelter definition is based on recovery as a purpose. An insect hotel only provides accomodation. --Fkv (talk) 04:50, 16 December 2020 (UTC)
