leisure=pitch as main tag?

Suggested tagging with leisure=pitch as main tag is quite poor. Features like this sometimes have buildings and other infrastructure. In such cases the leisure=pitch element is only one part of the facility, like is for a stadium. The discouraging of leisure=model_aerodrome, introduced by some editor, is not really justified. I would tag is as aeroway=aerodrome (with some subtag like aerodrome=*), because I don't consider it a sport. In particular, remote control doesn't seem like a reasonable criterion for sports. However, if you do consider it a sport, the whole facility can be tagged with leisure=sports_centre.

I would be very careful not to use aeroway=aerodrome on elements that are not suitable for landing normal aircraft and sorry but I find it sad that leisure=sports_centre should be used for anything, even when it's not considered sport. sorcrosc (talk) 20:18, 3 April 2021 (UTC)

I mean manned commercial aircrafts, with some requirement regarding runway length. Something that would never land safely in an aerodrome for rc models of medium extent. sorcrosc (talk) 21:49, 3 April 2021 (UTC)

--Fkv, I didn’t find this page until I was led to it by ael via Talk-GB. I mapped https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/966237348 in line with the wiki but it didn’t feel right. I have no interest in model aeroplanes but I’ll look at the wiki page from time to time to see whether this discussion leads to a consensus that results in a change to the wiki. I'm not anonymous btw; I'm motogs. I just don't know how to use these pages properly.
