Edinburgh photography workshop
I see you're in Edinburgh, and have helped organising mapping parties.
Wikimedia Deutschland are planning to have a few people visit Edinburgh and run a three-day photography workshop encouraging people to contribute images to Wikimedia and documenting points of interest on Wikipedia.
One thing they're keen to do is prepare people for Wiki Loves Monuments 2012. On that basis, and with Wikimedia rather under-respresented here in Scotland, it seems sensible to ask OSM people if they're interested in getting involved (route planning, geotagging &c).
Looking around, I see you're interested in getting some council data for OSM. For the photography workshop we're looking to rope in the council through possible use of libraries as venues. This might be a good way to build contacts with them, and a map/overlay (whatever you guys call it) for all the library sites might help get them on-side. I've done a few of the libraries for Wikipedia (Central, McDonald Road, Leith and Stockbridge).
Any comments/suggestions most welcome, and feel free to share this on your mailing lists. The contact email address is edinburgh.photoworkshop [at] wikinewsie.org. --Brian McNeil 10:30, 10 June 2012 (BST)
I just stumbled over your profile and I would like to let you know that we are starting with a small group to do meet ups and smaller projects like mapping parties, etc. We also started a mailing list for Nicaragua and I would like to ask you kindly to tell your contacts in Nicaragua to subscribe to this one, so we can make contacts and join forces, exchange experience, motivate us, coordinate work, and so on.
Thank you! -- xamanu 16:21, 18 August 2012 (GMT-6)
