Opinion

Surely the location of a peninsula would be obvious given the presence on the map of water on 3 sides. I'm not sure why this would need to be tagged explicitly. Richard B 21:57, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
most peninsulas are significant enough to have a name - this is so we can put a tag with it's name on Myfanwy 18:43, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
if the only reason for creating the tag is to enable it to be labelled as text on the map, wouldn't a more generic natural=label tag be more useful? Pt 18:55, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
giving it an explicit category enables a map/list of peninsulas to be made. no, i don't know why someone would want to do that, but it would be possible. the more information we can include, the better. maybe we should have a sub-tag below natural of 'land_feature' or something? • If you put this under natural= then people are going to tag pieces of coastline with it, thereby breaking the coastline. (I have already seen this with natural=bay.) Better create a place= value for it or make a subtag for place=locality like Slowrider notes below. --Cartinus 20:59, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

  • I do not approve this proposal. Better map it as usual land and add a place node like place=locality, type=peninsula, name=whatsoever SlowRider 20:02, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
  • I disapprove of this proposal, similar thoughts as SlowRider, above. --Edgemaster 20:11, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
  • I also disapprove of this proposal, place=peninsula might be useful. Bruce89 20:42, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

  • I disapprove this proposal, as said before, more generic type of classification should be used with tags for type, name --dieterdreist 15:54, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
  • I disapprove - use a place tag, or add a relation to the coastline. Andrewpmk 22:00, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
