Unnecessary

I didn't make it clear in Talk:Key:highway#Tags_for_Boring_Company_tunnel_at_Las_Vegas. route=bus is acceptable to me here, if you don't choose route=minibus. Aside from the fact that "Loop" is a specific system (which we should avoid tagging for), this resembles any other PRT/GRT system, only that "bus" has more connotation to size and capacity than route=light_rail. Definitely not a new highway=* value again, since different vehicles could use Loop. This would cause confusion between highway=loop and route=loop. ---- Kovposch (talk) 14:58, 18 April 2021 (UTC)

I am not convinced that it is needed. Treating it as route=bus/route=minibus or as a subway is all viable. I see no good reason to invent a new value here Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 18:06, 18 April 2021 (UTC)

No problem, I will attempt to tag with existing keys for now. I think the stations are most similar to subway stations, so they would be public_transport=station and station=subway. However the subway tag for the ways are railway=subway which would not be compatible since it is a road not a railway. Is a combination of subway for stations and highway=bus_guideway for ways acceptable? If so, an alternate rendering for bus_guideway will need to be developed for layers other than ground level as it appears (in the default rendering at least) to not be differentiated by layer=* or tunnel=* values. I've never been involved with rendering proposals but from what I can see it requires an issues to be lodged at https://github.com/gravitystorm/openstreetmap-carto ? -- Chuq (talk) 06:04, 22 April 2021 (UTC)

station=subway shouldn't be used as it is for railway=station, and railway=subway. A public_transport=station + *bus=yes + amenity=bus_station should be appropriate, at least for the terminals and interchanges (often including park-and-ride). Whether it is underground doesn't matter. For intermediate stations, in current usage usually guided busway stations haven't been tagged with public_transport=station (except for Adelaide O-Bahn for some reason), similar to ordinary bus and tram stops. However, "BRT" stations usually get them. ---- Kovposch (talk) 07:19, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
