Contents

access

Private swimming pools should be tagged with "amenity=swimming_pool" and "acess=private". It has not yet been decided, wether swimming pools, which are acessible for the public but require paying an entrance fee should be tagged with "access=public" or "access=permissive"

amenity or leisure?

leisure=swimming_pool is also documented, with no difference in definition. This amenity tag historically was used more in the database (see Taginfo search "swimming pool"), but over time the balance has shifted towards the leisure tag, which is now more prevalent. However there are some discussions and arguments in favour of amenity or leisure on the Proposed features/Swimming pool page.

Rendering

Currently (July 2011), Mapnik and Osmarender will render leisure=swimming_pool and amenity=swimming_pool.
