According to National Hydrography Dataset it is an imported attribute indicating spring. Adding such raw data from external database is at best dubious, but was done in some past imports.
Maybe it should be removed from natural=spring objects with an automated edit: but it must be discussed with USA local community, see Automated Edits code of conduct
