A stream is a naturally-forming waterway that is too thin to be classed as a river. It may not even be permanently filled with water.

How to Map

ElementWay.png To map a stream make a simple way. Add the waterway=stream tag to it and a name=* if the stream has one and you know it.

Direction of the way should be downstream.

Extended Tags

width=* to indicate the width in meters. This is an approximate average width of the stream throughout most of length of that bit of stream. You can use width=2 (meter is the default) to tag a stream with a width of 2 meters.
