Zoo types; animal locations

The zoo tag was proposed to define different types of zoos:

Classical Zoos expose rather exotic animals (like elephants) in cages or pens.

Safari parks try to provide larger areas for their animals, and enclose the visitors in caged vehicles.

Deer parks (?) stick to local animals (in Europe: deer, wolves, donkeys, lynxes, gnu etc.).

(For latter types, the elephant icon is not very apt).

In Berlin Zoo, animal locations are provided as areas like this: leisure=park name=Wolf.

Other approaches use nodes tagged "zoo=wolves".

Any common sense here?

Severe lack of documentation

Would someone be so kind as to document this tag? I'm not a native english speaker, so some things are not clear to me, such as the precise meaning of enclosure. --Jgpacker (talk) 00:06, 26 February 2014 (UTC)

Difference between wildlife_park and enclosure?

What is the difference between zoo=wildlife_park and zoo=enclosure? It may be that enclosure is not optimally described. --geozeisig (talk) 14:00, 28 March 2017 (UTC)

zoo=wildlife_park - you can drive in your car or in a bus between animals which are freely walking in a very large area
zoo=enclosure - this is a classical zoo with cages/enclosures and you walk between them on a footpath
At least that's how I understand it. Chrabros (talk) 03:42, 29 March 2017 (UTC)
An what about drive_through=yes. A Safari Park, which you can drive through, can be characterized thereby. I've searched with overpass and at least in germany they are parks that are better tagged with zoo=enclosure. Maybe you can start with the page zoo=wildlife_park? --geozeisig (talk) 14:00, 29 March 2017 (UTC)
Well, there is a difference that in some Safaris you don't drive in you own car but you drive in a bus with other visitors. Then I wouldn't use drive_through=yes. Chrabros (talk) 02:46, 30 March 2017 (UTC)
I have created the page zoo=wildlife_park. Please review it. Chrabros (talk) 03:03, 30 March 2017 (UTC)

Difference between zoo=petting_zoo and zoo=small_animal?

What is the difference between zoo=petting_zoo and zoo=small_animal? I think it is the same and we should only use petting_zoo.--geozeisig (talk) 14:08, 28 March 2017 (UTC)

Not sure that these are the same. In petting zoos you can find goats. Are they small animals? I wouldn't call them small. But I do not know any example. Chrabros (talk) 03:42, 29 March 2017 (UTC)
