Icon for street_vendor shops

Hi, do you've got an idea how to express street vendor ? shop=street_vendor IMHO the problem is they might sell nearly everything (from fruits over computer parts to surfboard rental or similar), so the icon shouldn't be too specific while expressing "outdoor vendor" / business stall. The simplest one I could find is this : https://www.flaticon.com/free-icon/market-place_79706 rtfm Rtfm (talk) 02:45, 7 April 2019 (UTC)

I think, street vendor isn't a good tag at all, but I made an icon and will upload it. --MeastroGlanz (talk) 09:48, 7 April 2019 (UTC)
Do you mean it shouldn't be tagged at all or it should be tagged different ? rtfm Rtfm (talk) 19:51, 7 April 2019 (UTC)
imho it is not a very good tag, since there are dozens of different products sold by them. So, if they are tagged, they should be either tagged to i.e. shop=flowers or shop=street_vendor; street_vendor=flowers. It is just not a very good tag in my opinion. But I'm not the king of osm, so we will see. --MeastroGlanz (talk) 07:02, 11 April 2019 (UTC
That's exactly what I thought at the beginning, but the problem is there are no "experienced" ones who know it better...rtfm Rtfm (talk) 22:41, 11 April 2019 (UTC)

License PD or CC0

Hi! I recognized your uploads of the well designed organ icons File:Organ A.svg and File:Organ B.svg and I want to draw your attention to the following: There are alleged cases of legal trouble in the public domain. So instead of {{PD}} it may be a better consideration to take license {{CC0-self}}. You're welcome to ask if you need more help with changing that. --Chris2map (talk) 18:12, 29 April 2022 (UTC)

What kind of legal trouble? And what is the difference? I think, I got it, but I'm not sure. It's meant to be free for all and the CC0-self is more specific, hence safer in abroad legal disputes, right? So, like this: Organ A.svg. --MeastroGlanz (talk) 09:18, 30 April 2022 (UTC)
Yes, exactly! I don't really know how and why either. I only know the hint that with "PD" not everything is great. With a search I came across this discussion, for example: https://opensource.stackexchange.com/questions/9871/why-is-there-no-public-domain-licensing-in-europe - I understand it roughly like this: There are arguably legal systems that seek to protect the rights of an individual in such a way that they do not allow anyone to relinquish all of their rights to something, including also moral rights. Apparently this can lead to a conflict with "PD". "CC0" should probably deal with this topic better. --Chris2map (talk) 11:16, 30 April 2022 (UTC)
Good point. I will update them. You may do also, but I think, it is easier, if my name is in the change history. Btw. Is there any icon, which should exist, but doesn't? --MeastroGlanz (talk) 12:57, 30 April 2022 (UTC)

Additional icons

Map Icons

The following tags may have no or no specific map icon, as far as I see. But I didn't check, if there are already icons created or proposed --Chris2map (talk) 13:41, 30 April 2022 (UTC):

You can check out Vaccination centre flat.svg and Vaccination centre 2.5D.svg. --MeastroGlanz (talk) 11:24, 2 May 2022 (UTC)
and Lifeguard small.svg and Lifeguard big.svg. --MeastroGlanz (talk) 12:05, 2 May 2022 (UTC)

Icon examples

Please, do not add the same icon multiple times in a different sizes Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 12:27, 2 June 2022 (UTC)

It might seem too much, but 16px/14px is needed for the basic grid size. Some apps use double grid, hence 32px/28px, 100px is good for judging, if an icon is well done. The comparison between the big and the small one gives a much better feeling for that, than just the small one. You may disagree. That's why I didn't oppose to your changes. --MeastroGlanz (talk)

Rendering proposals

Hi, I'm sorry but I must say that IMHO your "rendering proposals" on tag description pages could be more reserved. They take up space like they are the important content of a tag page. In my opinion they belong less to the tag description. They are more related to a map styling. Could you also make friends with an alternative presentation, a little link to a separate page that summarizes all your designs? Something like * Rendering proposal: [[File:....svg|16px|16px]] – see [[Proposed CC0 map icons]] in ==See also== section? --Chris2map (talk) 12:41, 16 July 2022 (UTC)

You are free to change it. I mainly make icons for crafts, a fairly new concept. As there is in most cases nothing yet and everything still in a built-up phase, I want to create some content, so there is not nothing. The size of the icons are aimed towards readability and easy judging, if the icon is good. It is not related to the importance. Over all is the deduction of importance from this quite questionable. If you don't like it, change it. I do it the way, I think it is meaning- and useful. I won't start an edit war. If it is a separate page, it should be autofilled. But I don't know, how to do this. I would like to adapt. Then it should be a list by category icons, including all, with a column status (proposed/used in) and a column usage (the tag) --MeastroGlanz (talk)

Question about fraternity article

Hi, I have a question about the fraternity article. In it you say "social_centre=* is one of the tags, which can be used in the BE version and the AE version, though the BE version is more widely used." What exactly does "BE version" and "AE version" refer to? Thanks! --Adamant1 (talk) 01:22, 11 December 2022 (UTC)

Good point. American English and British English. --MeastroGlanz (talk) 19:49, 11 December 2022 (UTC)
