Mapping projects
- Homs
Mapping Homs is in progress... (see Syria/Homs_mapping_progress)
Residents of Homs are invited to set direction of roads.
Available imagery
- Bing high resolution imagery coverage
- In addition, an OrbView-3 satellite, 1 m resolution, panchromatic (black and white) image is available, covering an area south west of Homs. Use source=OrbView-3, GeoEye/USGS, 2005-02-27. This image was rectified using GPS tracks where available, and existing OSM data elsewhere (which was itself apparently traced from Bing).
- Use with Potlatch :
- For Potlatch 2, in menu "Background / Edit / Add", give a name (for example "Syria - OrbView-3"), and copy the following URL:
http://osm.arkemie.org/cgi-bin/tiles/1.0.0/syria_ov3/$z/$x/$y
- (you can also uncheck "Dim").
- For Potlatch 1, open "Options (choose background map)" dialog window, and copy-paste the following URL in "Custom":
http://osm.arkemie.org/cgi-bin/tiles/1.0.0/syria_ov3/!/!/!
- (you can also uncheck "Dim background").
- Use with JOSM :
- To make the image available in the Imagery menu in JOSM, go to Modify / Preferences / WMS - TMS tab / +, give a name (for example "Syria - OrbView-3"), and copy-paste the following URL in "Web address" (bottom):
tms:http://osm.arkemie.org/cgi-bin/tiles/1.0.0/syria_ov3/{zoom}/{x}/{y}.jpg
- In addition, an EO-1 satellite, 10 m resolution, image is available, covering Homs, Rastan, and also northern part of Damascus. Use source=EO-1, NASA/USGS, 2005-02-28. Beware that this image seems to be shifted with respect to existing OSM data (by about 200 m to the East), and that this shift should likely be corrected before tracing.
- Use with Potlatch :
- For Potlatch 2, in menu "Background / Edit / Add", give a name (for example "Syria - EO-1"), and copy the following URL:
http://osm.arkemie.org/cgi-bin/tiles/1.0.0/syria/$z/$x/$y
- (you can also uncheck "Dim").
- For Potlatch 1, open "Options (choose background map)" dialog window, and copy-paste the following URL in "Custom":
http://osm.arkemie.org/cgi-bin/tiles/1.0.0/syria/!/!/!
- (you can also uncheck "Dim background").
- Use with JOSM :
- To make the image available in the Imagery menu in JOSM, go to Modify / Preferences / WMS - TMS tab / +, give a name (for example "Syria - EO-1"), and copy-paste the following URL in "Web address" (bottom):
tms:http://osm.arkemie.org/cgi-bin/tiles/1.0.0/syria/{zoom}/{x}/{y}.jpg
