עפיפוני המדבר הינם מתקנים ששימשו לצייד המוני של עדרי חיות בר. עפיפוני המדבר ידועים היום בארבע מוקדים מרכזיים במזרח התיכון: עפיפוני הנגב, הערבה וסיני, עפיפוני מזרח ירדן, עפיפוני ערב הסעודית ועפיפוני המדבר הסוריה. ניתן לראות כי עפיפוני הנגב, הערבה וסיני הם קטנים יחסית בממדיהם, בעוד שעפיפוני ירדן וסוריה הם גדולים מאוד ונבנו לרוב בשרשראות. בעפיפוני סוריה ערב הסעודית ניתן לראות דבר שונה מעט, כאשר לעיתים ניתן לראות עפיפון אחד עם מספר בורות הריגה.
