ref:HU:vatin is a tag for adding the national version of the VAT identification number of an object on Wikipedia (usually the number sequence next to the operator can be found on the receipt you get when you pay for something). The usual syntax is 12345678-1-23.
If the given business has requested an EU VAT identification as well (ref:vatin=*), the given EU identifier will match the first 8 digits of the national identifier. Note that not all businesses are required to hold an EU VAT identification, but they are required to hold a valid national VAT identification.
You can verify whether a given business also holds a EU vat number on the following site:
Note that we started to tag this as ref:vatin:hu=* initially, but then have settled with a spelling that better aligns with language based subkeying. If you encounter an instance of the deprecated tagging, feel free to rename it.
Examples
- ref:HU:vatin=12345678-1-23 for a business in Hungary
Useful combinations
You can attach this key to every business, usually it refers to the operator of the place. See also:
