Multiple designations

We'll need either a hierarchy of some kind to decide which one gets rendered primarily, or a rendering for a combined designation.

In the first case (hierarchy)

  1. horse
  2. bicycle
  3. foot

This seems to be the intended use of the decision tree, since rendering stops once horse=designated is found.

Where should ski and snowmobile fit in?

Suggestion:

  1. horse
  2. bicycle
  3. snowmobile
  4. ski
  5. foot

In the second case:

I suggest rendering a way with multiple designations as a dark brown. --Hawke 16:08, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

  • why don't render multiple-designations with multi-colored line (in mapnik multi-color-dashed line)? so the info "is designated for" isn't lost in the rendered map--Cbm 16:39, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
  • Not a bad idea, but I think it could get messy...a real rainbow of colors. (consider the example photo at Tag:access=designated) --Hawke 17:02, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

Undesignated path

If a path has no designation, the gray line rendered the same as a footway (i.e. same width) seems like the way to go. --Hawke 16:08, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
