  • I support the idea. --grin 13:31, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
  • What we understand in Finland as a second hand shop is a kind of flea market and it sells typically at least clothes, books, tools, old toys, CD records from long time ago from unknown artists, old kitchen ware, furniture, cross country skis and old stereos. There are couple of them in every population centre with one thousand or more inhabitants. For that purpose using shop=second_hand is perfect and for my mind it should be kept. It does not prevent adding second_hand=yes tag to all other kind of shops. user:JRA 11 November 2011
  • i vote for this a more common/default value for more easy tagging ^^ this is great for shop like shop=books, shop=clothes, shop=bicycle, shop=car...I prefer second_hand=yes if the shop do second hand with normal selling and second_hand=only if it sell only second hand product. --Yod4z 15:27, 24 December 2011 (UTC). I have created a dedicated page Key:second_hand
Hi! The problem with second_hand=yes is that I asked several people, and 50% of them thought this means "second_hand=only" and the other 50% thought this means "second_hand=both". Also the comments on tagging mailing list (link in the proposal) confirm this. You can start tagging with 'yes', but then this will mean either "both" OR "only", depending on readers and mappers and 50-50% of mappers will use it for each, so basically we cannot anymore reflect whether it's "both" or "only". What do you think?
