Trail types

There are a number of types of waymarked trails in Ireland.

National Waymarked Trails
- Long distance routes

National Looped Walks
- Short and medium distance looped routes

Pilgram Paths
- a network of walking routes along medieval pilgrimage paths

Slí na Sláinte
- Slí na Sláinte, meaning "Path to Health", a scheme developed by the Irish Heart Foundation to encourage people of all ages and abilities to walk for leisure and good health.

Coillte Recreation Trails
- Coillte - Ireland's state forestry company provide recreational trails in its numerous forest properties throughout the country.
- Provide Mountain Access Routes to allow access through their forests onto open hillside.
- In addition, many National Waymarked Trails, National Looped Walks and Slí na Slainte go through Coillte properties.
