Key:noname

If a road has no name you can use this to tag this for other mappers. This isn't used in renderers atm, nor on the No name map layer.

noname=yes
noname=yes can be used to mark the absence of a name i.e. where something really does not have a name in reality. This is to distinguish it from the situation where the name=* tag is missing due to incomplete OpenStreetMap data (a common situation, caused by for example sketching over Yahoo! Aerial Imagery)
The NoName map layer highlights our progress gathering the names of streets, and gives rough indication of whether streets have actually been surveyed (proper mapping). One of the main points of this noname=yes tag would be to allow such tools to exclude streets from the highlighting where they genuinely have no name.
