Unlike the neighbouring territorial collectivity of Saint-Martin, the collectivity of Saint-Barthélémy is no longer part of the European Union since January 2012; it was part of Outermost regions (OMR) or in French Régions ultrapériphériques (RUP), separately from the French overseas department of Guadeloupe between 2007 and 2011, or as part of it before its breakaway from the department; it is now associated with the European Union within Overseas country and territories (OCT) or in French Pays et territoires d'outre-mer (PTOM). The euro remains the only currency with legal tender, and the collectivity remained part of the Euro Area (with France's membership) without being part of the Shengen Area or the European VAT Tax Area.
French being an official language of Saint-Barthélemy (a French overseas collectivity), please refer to the Saint-Barthélemy wiki page in French, and to the OSM-Talk-fr mailing list for more information.
