Please don't use this for support group homes, as the author intends! This is misleading as social centre is common use for autonomous spaces. See Wikipedia.
Another good choice might be amenity=community_centre or amenity=social facility or the upcomming Proposed_features/Healthcare_2.0 instead.
In United States of America, use this tag to indicate:
- fraternities and sororities, as at a college or university
- military and veterans organizations: Veterans of Foreign Wars, Anchors Aweigh Club, American Legion, et cetera
- fraternal organizations: Lions Club, Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club, et cetera
- professional societies: state Bar Association, American Mathematical Society, American Institute of Physics, et cetera
- union halls: Plumbers and Pipefitters, Education Association, United Auto Workers, et cetera
