A social facility is any place where social services, as defined in wikipedia, are conducted:
- Social work is a profession and a social science committed to the pursuit of social justice, to quality of life, and to the development of the full potential of each individual, group and community in a society
Specific examples of a social facility are group and nursing homes, assisted living, drug clinics, workshops for the physically disabled, and homeless shelters. There are no restrictions as to who provides the services.
How to map
If the facility serves a particular target group, add social_facility:for=*.
If there are no outdoor areas, the tags are applied to the building. If the geometry of the building is not known yet, or when the facility occupies only a few rooms in a larger building, use a node .
Some forms of social facilities might overlap with community centres. When it addresses an audience with specific problems, and/or is staffed with professional helpers (social workers, nurses), amenity=social_facility would be preferred. When the centre is open to general audiences (sometimes of a specific age group or with specific interests), gathering for particular activities, it should be tagged amenity=community_centre.
