How to Map
Simply add the tag barrier=bollard to a new node positioned where the bollard is.
By default access=no, foot=yes, and bicycle=yes is implied. If that isn't true, tag who can pass the node explicitly. Always place an
bollard before a junction node unless it affects all traffic across the junction in all directions. Rows of bollards can be represented as
s. If rows of bollards are laid across area=yes highways, make sure they share nodes with what they block since routing happens at the edges of area highways at present.
Automatic, "Rising" Bollards
Some bollards retract into the ground automatically, either in response to a key system or on a timer[1]. A couple of schemes have emerged for representing this, though neither is in particularly widespread use:
- Tag as above, and add bollard=rising. 44 uses as of 2011-04-26[2].
- Tag as above, and add automatic=yes. 29 probable uses as of 2011-04-26[3].
The bollard=* scheme is more extensible, and is probably the better tag. TODO: suggest some other values, or use a Taginfo box to refer readers to a dynamic list.
