Plugin for LocationMapViewer: Show articles from Wikipedia (or Wikivoyage) near a given geographic location in an interactive map.
Features
Many Android geolocation apps can view/send/share a geografic location (latitude/longitude). "AndroidGeo2ArticlesMap: Show Articles in Map" translates the geografic location to an interactive map of articles from Wikipedia that is near this location.
Example:
Your navigation app (i.e. OsmAnd) shows you a geo-map with your holiday hotel and you want to know: what is near this place that has an article in wikipedia ( or wikivoyage ).
In your navigation app select "view in external app" (or "send location to" or "share location with" or ...) choose "Show Articles in Map" and you will get a map with marks for articles. If you click on a mark you get a small popup with the article summary and a link to the wikipedia article.
Minimal requirements:
- Android-4.4 and later (API 19 ff)
- Installed LocationMapViewer version v0.3.7.210429 or later
- internet/wifi-connection to download article info from wikipedia
Requred permissions:
- INTERNET: to download wikipedia article data and map data from Open Streetmap Server
