As part of the March 7th, 2012 release of the "new iPad", Apple released a new version of iPhoto for iOS. Various tweets and blogs found that the maps contained within the new app were not using Google Maps tiles as in previous versions.
After lots of investigation, the OSM community found that in most areas outside the United States these tiles are using OSM data from roughly around April 2010.
