A true Portals namespace does not seem to exist here yet

The Portals category lists several pages which act like Portals on Wikipedia. Two of these pages have names beginning with what looks like the Portal: namespace. However, according to this Wikipedia article about namespaces:

  • The portal namespace and its associated talk namespace are the two custom namespaces in Wikipedia (they are not supplied by default in MediaWiki software).

The Portal: namespace appears to be absent on the OSM Wiki as I write, because it does not appear in the Namespace list on Special:Allpages. To make a Portal: namespace, evidently someone who administers the MediaWiki software for OSM would have to follow these instructions. Teratornis 21:36, 4 Aug 2006 (BST)

Alteratively could just rename them 'Users portal' and 'Press portal', in alignment with 'Community portal' (although actually 'Community portal' is in a different namespace, so it's full name is OpenStreetMap:Community Portal). I find namespaces are a bit of a pain. Useful on wikipedia, to separate the huge number of articles from other types of content, but on smaller wikis they just make linking more difficult -- Harry Wood 00:51, 8 September 2006 (BST)
