Editing OSM Map On Garmin/Area Types

The purpose of this page is to collect experimental evidence about how the area types are handled by the GPS units. It should be used complementary to the other lists of area type mappings that are available. Descriptions of how each element appears are based on the default for each unit (i.e. no custom TYP files are used).
Some of the information in this list is gathered by using the "test-map:all-elements" feature of mkgmap and then inspecting the resulting maps.
